Are you tired? Are you tired of being tired? Are your nerves frayed to the point they can’t be frayed anymore? Do you feel as though you are being tossed back and forth on endless violent waves? Are you looking for just enough strength to get through one more day?
There is no doubt we are growing tired of the COVID pandemic. We have been riding a rollercoaster for nineteen months now (from when we first heard of it). We have been in and out of lockdowns on multiple occasions, depending on where we live.
The arguments back and forth have been politicized and polarized. No one is willing to listen to someone else’s point of view. Everyone believes everyone else must have the same point of view as theirs. It has gotten so ugly; people are just throwing up their hands and doing whatever they want. Honest debate is no longer possible. Or is it?
In recent weeks, I’ve seen the people of God have honest discussions concerning their points of view. I’ve seen respect for one another. Perhaps it took us getting to the point of exhaustion to listen to one another. Perhaps this is God driving us to our knees to seek Him and His ways.
We have been promised many times throughout the Bible that God will strengthen us. He has promised to be the power working through us when we are weak. When we reach the end of our strength and have nowhere else to turn, God takes over. It is not that it must be this way. It is simply our unwillingness to allow God to take over before we no longer can do it on our own.
God works in ways we don’t understand. No, I don’t believe God purposely sent this pandemic to cause us to rely on Him. However, I do believe He knew it was coming and is working in the midst of it. He is showing us what He can do, how He can and will work in our lives.
When we are willing to lean on God, trust Him to guide us, He works in ways that amaze us. When we grow weary, God provides the strength we need. When we are weakened, He provides the power we need to carry out His plan.
I pray we all lean on God when we grow weary. I pray we seek God’s power when we are weak. I pray each one of us learn through this difficult time to lean on God at all times. Trust God to provide. Lean on His strength. Know that God will lift you up. Put your hope in Him.
Isaiah 40:28
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
