Soul Hunger

What is it that you seek? What do you yearn for the most? Is there something you spend most of your time longing for? Do you look to a future when you will be satisfied? What if you could rest assured that what you long for will be fulfilled?

We all have goals we set for ourselves, our family, and our professions. We work toward them, sometimes putting all our energy into them and sometimes we don’t work nearly so hard at it. We may even think we set goals, but they are really just dreams.

God tells us, just as he told the Israelites, that when we come to him hungry and thirsty, he satisfies us. God provides for our needs. He fulfills our deepest needs. Our souls long to be in a relationship with God. We long to know him intimately. We long for his reassuring embrace.

The cost for us is putting our trust in God. When we put our trust in him, he delivers. We are fulfilled without any further cost. It does not make sense from our human perspective. We live by the mantra that there is no such thing as a free lunch. We believe we must work for everything. In this life, that is true when it comes to buying possessions. But God provides for our deeper need without requiring us to purchase it with money.

I pray we all seek to have our needs satisfied by God. I pray we allow God to fulfill our deepest need. I pray each one of us put our trust in God, knowing he will wrap his arms around us as our loving Father. Know God fulfills your needs. Put your trust in God. Seek a close relationship with God.

Isaiah 55:1-2

“Come, all you who are thirsty,

come to the waters;

and you who have no money,

come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk

without money and without cost.

Why spend money on what is not bread,

and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

and you will delight in the richest of fare.”
