Go As Jesus Commanded

How well do you follow commands? Have you been in a profession in which instant obedience is required? How well do you think you would adapt to such a profession? Are you following Jesus’ commands?

Jesus did not give many commands. He said we are to love God, love our neighbor, follow Him, and make disciples. We are typically pretty good at acknowledging the first three, even if we don’t always follow them. It’s the fourth one that gives us the most anxiety.

Jesus didn’t give us an option in any one of His commands. That’s why we call them commands. If there were choices in doing them or not, we would call them suggestions, guidelines, or even principles. But we don’t call them any of those, rather they are called commands.

The command to go make disciples scares many of us. Yet, it is not nearly as scary as we make it out to be. In fact, many people we talk to everyday know something about God and are willing to talk about him. It is the fear of ridicule, ostracization, or embarrassment that causes us to hesitate. That fear comes from Satan, plain and simple. He wants to stop us from carrying out Jesus’ command. Let’s all pray that God remove our fear and we carry out all of Jesus’ commands.

I pray we all seek to follow Jesus’ commands. I pray we desire to obey every one of them. I pray each one of us will ask God to wipe out our fear so we will go make disciples of Jesus Christ. Follow Jesus’ commands. Ask God to remove your fear. Go, make disciples.

Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
