Sent by God

Have you ever seen someone approach your home and wonder who they were? Have you seen someone and realized they were important without being introduced to them? Do you believe you have interacted with someone you were sure God had sent specifically to you?

We have a variety of people who approach our homes. There are salesmen, service providers, delivery drivers, family, and friends. It is rare that someone of importance would come to our home without us knowing them beforehand. If they did, we would be shocked.

Abraham had encountered God before. He recognized when God moved and God’s presence. So, when he saw three men suddenly appear, it was not simply because they had snuck up on him. It knew it was God’s work. He knew there was something important about to happen. He had Sarah prepare a meal for them and immediately began attending to them.

God sometimes puts people in our lives for a specific reason. They may only be in our lives for a few minutes, a few days, or a few months. Yet, they leave an impression on us, one that God fully intended. We may not realize what the purpose is immediately, even if we realize they have left an impression. It may be years later before we fully recognize the full purpose for them having been brought into our lives. It is important that we continue to remember and seek to understand.

I pray we all recognize when God has sent someone to us. I pray we realize there is something important going on. I pray each one of us will remember and continue to seek to understand. Recognize God at work. Realize when God has sent someone to you. Seek to understand the purpose.

Genesis 18:1-2 The Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day. He looked up and saw three men standing near him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent entrance to meet them and bowed down to the ground.
