What are you thankful for? How often do you give thanks? Do you like to sing? Do you sing regularly? Do you sing along with the radio? Is there joy in your life? Do thanks and joy resonate throughout your life? Is it evident in your interactions with others?
We have many things to be thankful for. The first thing to be thankful for is we woke up this morning. We often take that for granted. It is not until we become elderly and our health is declining that we start thinking our days are limited. Yet not one of us is guaranteed tomorrow.
We have many reasons to sing with joy. First and foremost, for those of us who are committed to Christ is the promise of eternity with Him. He has promised to never leave us. He is with us every day, every step we take, every experience we have. Most of us have family who love us. We are blessed to have relationships with others who care for us. Our hope in Christ is filled with trust that He will fulfill His promises.
Our joy is not wishful thinking but built on our faith in Jesus and God the Father. Our faith is built on our understanding of Scripture, our experience with God, traditions of the church passed on to us, and our reasoning or logical thinking, putting those pieces together. In our joy, we can sing praises to God for the blessings we have and the promises he has made. Our song can be a song of praise from our heart, one that is unique for each of us.
I pray we all are thankful for the blessings we have received. I pray we are filled with the joy that comes from God. I pray each one of us sings God’s praises from the depths of our hearts. Thank God for your blessings. Be filled with joy. Sing God’s praises. Sing from your heart.
Psalm 105:1-2
O give thanks to the Lord; call on his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wonderful works.
